About the Kodava Thakk Project
Our mother tongue has been passed down for generations through conversations at home, stories from our elders, and songs of our land. This project is here to make sure it continues.
The Language
Kodava Thakk (also known as Kodagu or Coorgi) is a Dravidian language spoken by approximately 114,000–200,000 people in the Kodagu (Coorg) district of Karnataka, India. It belongs to the South Dravidian I branch, closely related to Kannada, Tulu, Tamil, and Malayalam.

Why This Project
Our children are growing up in cities far from Kodagu. Many understand Kodava Thakk but struggle to speak it fluently. Without tools to learn and practice, we risk losing the language that connects us to our roots.
There is no Kodava dictionary app, no translation tool, no online course. This project exists to change that — built by the community, for the community.
